Hassun the Artist

As the cultural capital its also the town of bohemians and artists who meet up in cafes to talk about their worries. They love meeting new people and especially foreigners: their borders are hermitically closed towards Africa by the wars, Algiers by the Sahara conflct and the only way to Europe is Spain. The recently ended dictatorship of Hassan II made leaving the country almost impossible. Morocco now has satellite television, internet, and the need to know what`s out there is amazing, to directly hear what is happening in the world. Freedom of speech was introduced in 1999 by Mohammed VI, son of Hassan II.It was one of the first official decisions he reached. Nowadays Morocco is undergoing a time of change very similar to Spanish Transition, when Franco died.
